About The Beychok Family
Please sign in to see more.
The Beychok Family is a family tree occasioned by my regret over not having known many of my relatives. This I attemted to excuse because my father, Morris Beychok, moved our family south from New York (where all of the rest of the Beychoks had come from Russia to escape the Russian Revolution and the Stalin regime), but it wasn't really a valid excuse. So I have tried to find all the descendents of Benjamin Jacob Beychok and his wife Chanah (Anna). As Beychok is an Americanized version of whatever the real Russian family name was, I reasoned that all Beychoks are their descendents. In addition to their four sons, Morris (Moshe), Harry(Herschel), Abraham (Avraham) and Mechial (Michael), Benjamin and Chana also had one daughter, Manya (Minnie), so all descendents of Minnie and her husband George Serotta are also in the Beychok Family Tree. I would have liked, had I the years left to live and the resources, to have made this a "meshpuchah" tree, and included the extended members, that is the relatives of all the spouses, but this was simply not possible. So spouses themselves are included if they are current, and past spouses are included if their union with a descendent resulted in a child, but otherwise they are not included and the relatives and forebearers of spouses are not included.

We are certain that Jacoob Benjamin Beychok's family family lived in Kupel, a small Jewish "shtetl" in the Ukraine, which at times was part of Poland and at times part of Russia. There were perhaps five hundred or so families, with between one-thousand to fifteen hundred Jewish souls living there. Kupel was the site on numerous occasions of bloody pogroms carried out by Russian military factions and hostile surrounding Ukranians. Behind the Old Mill that still stands in Kupel is one of the mass graves of the victims of one such mass murder. Those of us-- the Beychok descendants--living free today--are indeed indebted to our forebearers who struck out for America in search of a new life for themselves and their children.
This is still a work in progress. Some bios are sorely lacking. I am sure there are errors, and I hope those who view this site will point them out to me as well as provide me with any additional information they have, such as first or last names where I have indicated they are unknown, birth and/or death dates, current addresses, and any items of interest relating to anyone on the tree. Additional biographical material, photos, preferably dated, with persons identified, etc., emailed to me will be greatly appreciated. (As administrator of this site, I am the only person who can edit it or enter new material.)

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
